Backpacking in Vietnam n Cambodia

Day 1 (May 15, 2007)

Our group of 10 people arrived in

Hanoi

International

Airport

at 7pm local time.
We took a van to the old quarter. We were shocked by the enormous quantity of
motorcycles on the road. We checked in a guesthouse in old quarter. We had dinner
at a noodle stall at roadside. After that, we wandered around the

Hoan

Kiem

Lake

side. We returned to
guesthouse quite late and found that the guesthouse had been closed at 12am
midnight. We had to knock on the door.

 

Day 2 (May 16, 2007)

We had a tour to Ha Long Bay, one of the world natural heritage site
recognized by UNESCO. After 3 hours journey, we arrived at a port. Then, we took
a ship out to the sea. We were amazed by the beautiful scene of Ha Long Bay.
The stone island was found extend from the sea. We had stopped by at a cave.

 

Day 3 (May 17, 2007)

We planned to pay respect to the Ho Chi Minh at mausoleum at

Ba Ninh Square

but
we had missed the time of visit. Instead, we had visited the one pillar pagoda
and temple of literature. At 2pm, left

Hanoi

and
headed to

Hue

.

 

Day 4 (May 18, 2007)

 

We had arrived in

Hue

after a 20 hours journey, rented motorbike to travel around

Hue

. We had visited a temple, tomb and
pagoda. I was attracted by the beautiful view of the

Perfume

River

.
We had lack of time to visit the Citadel (Purple Forbidden City), just taken a
few photos outside the city gate. Then, we took a bus to

Saigon

at 2pm. It was a 28 hours long ride.

 

Day 5 (May 19, 2007)

The bus was stopped by Hoi An and Nathrang. It had passed by Mei Nu for
lunch. Finally, we had arrived in

Saigon

. We
went to the night market. After that, we had a walk beside the

Saigon

River

and City Hall.

 

Day 6 (May 20, 2007)

We took a one day tour to

Dao

Cai

Temple

and Cuchi Tunnel. At

Dao

Cai

Temple

,
we had witnessed a religion which is a combination of Buddhism, Confucianism,
Taoism, native Vietnamese spiritualism, Christianity and Islam. We had a chance
to travel through the narrow tunnel which was constructed by Vietnamese army
during the war with American.

 

Day 7 (May 21, 2007)

We left Saigon and headed to

Phnom
  Penh

. In the half way, the bus had to go on a ferry to
cross the river. In

Phnom Penh

,
we changed a bus to go to Siem Riep.

 

Day 8 (May 22, 2007)

We had a tired tour around one of the

Seven Wonders
of the World

, Angkor Wat.

 

Day 9 (May 23, 2007)

We went to the

Phnom Penh

, the capital
city of

Cambodia

.
We traveled around the

Phnom Penh

city. We missed the visit time of

Royal

Palace

. We had a walk at

Tonle Sap

River

side. We visited the Phnom Wat.

 

Day 10 (May 24, 2007)

We had a visit to the Killing Field, one of the remnants where
Cambodians were being perished during the Khmer Rogue regime led by Pol Pot. We
took a flight from

Phnom Penh

International

Airport

back to

Malaysia

.
Every user of airport was being charged USD25 of airport service tax.
